From inbox to plan

Turn an email into a task you can follow up

Do not leave an “I’ll do that later” message buried in your inbox. Give the work a task of its own, after checking what you are about to share.

Four steps from message to task

You need a connected, accessible email account in Mail for this workflow.

  1. Open the message containing the work in Mail and choose Convert to task.
  2. Edit the task title so it describes what needs doing. Read the message content in the description preview and make sure it is suitable to share.
  3. Choose a personal task or a project you can access. For a project, select eligible assignees; adjust the duration, priority, start date and due date if needed.
  4. Check your choices and confirm the conversion. Once the task has been created, open its details and review the result.

Not everything in the email moves across

The description preview cannot be edited in this dialog. If the message is not suitable to share with the project, cancel the conversion and create a separate task with just the necessary details in your own words.

Email attachments are not transferred to the task by this action. Share any needed files separately, checking who can access them. Review private notes before copying anything into a shared task description, too.
